General information
Important Information for Donkey Activities
Guidance & Supervision
Short activities (such as donkey rides and introductory hikes) are accompanied by a guide and donkey expert.
All other hikes — especially multi-day treks — are generally self-guided.
For larger groups or upon request, we are happy to provide a guide and organize fully guided multi-day trekking tours.
Donkey Load Capacity
Please note: the carrying capacity of a donkey is limited. Depending on its size, a donkey can carry between 15 and 40 kg. For day and multi-day trekkings, you can generally calculate with an average of 30 kg per donkey.
Pricing & Participation
-
For donkey rides (up to 2 hours), the price is charged per donkey. Accompanying persons are welcome.
-
For activities longer than 2 hours, the price is charged per adult and/or child.
-
On hikes, donkeys are usually shared among participants. However, we recommend taking more than one donkey—not only for practical reasons but also to provide companionship for the donkeys.
-
For multi-day trekkings with tent and camping gear, we require a minimum of one donkey per two persons to ensure the animals are not overloaded.
-
For multi-day trekkings, the price is charged per day and per donkey. Please note: no half-day rates are available for multi-day tours.
Children & Riding
-
Donkey riding is suitable for children aged approx. 3 years and older.
-
For younger children, we recommend bringing a child carrier backpack.
-
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
-
Allowing a child to ride is at the full responsibility of the parent or caregiver.
Duration & Flexibility
-
The duration of each tour depends on the participants’ condition and pace. All listed times serve as guidelines.
-
Route changes may occur due to weather, trail conditions, or participant needs.
Equipment & Safety
Participants are responsible for their own clothing and gear. We recommend for any activity:
-
Sturdy hiking boots
-
Long pants
-
Sunscreen and rain gear
-
Helmet (mandatory for riding)

Riding helmets are required.
Insurance is the responsibility of the participant.
